A Story in a Sardine Can of Transjakarta

Long night shift, that what I've got during the world cup 2010 held. I watched the match and then write the stories on that for news morning segment. Played on South Africa time made all process made me little bit under pressured to meet the death line.

I went home by the morning, by my first shamble walk heading to Bus Way Trans Jakarta (a mass transportation system in the city I lived). Waiting patiently the bus for almost 30 minutes. I gotta tell you, they do not operate enough bus to cover all the passenger. Mostly in the rushing hours, the bus gonna looks like a tin of sardine.

As I reached my transit shelter, there were huge crowd queuing for the next bus to Pulo Gadung (nearest terminal by my home). They were separated in three lines, two by gender and the last for disable, pregnant woman, children and elderly. But on the gate, the crowd were mixed again rushing as quick as they can to have a seat inside the bus. So they who were slow, enjoy the trip by standing for the next 40 to 45 minutes.

I never thought to have seat during taking a bus way. While many of the passenger did not care enough that they should give priority for certain people I mentioned above. Lot of strong men were pretending sleep or clearly ignoring woman who should have seat instead of them.

There was a man too who hold his daughter around 2 or 3 years old while other hand holding a big baby equipment bag. Pity to him, struggling hard in the middle of the crowd, to keep steady. Well, he could make it, keep the baby in comfort. I looked at her, apparently she was smiling and then looked sleepy. She might knew that her father effort was all out then she preferred sleep instead of crying for this discomfort.

Next bus stop is a shopping and office district where lot of people take off. The man who I guessed must be in 35, finally got empty seat for him. The little girl was totally sleep peacefully.
And that was the moment I took their pic by my mobile.

I should upload it, but there's no cable yet to transfer it to my computer.

This story might not interesting, but for me it likes snow in the middle of the messiness of the public transportation in my beloved city. A story in a Sardine Can of Trans jakarta.

so this picture might show you a bit

Agak-agak dulu lah...

Jakarta pukul 05.00 wib

AC ruangan kantor lt.19 super duper dingin, terlebih setelah wudhu-an subuh, jadi agak-agak menggigil deh.

This time I'm writing in bahasa. The topic might not interesting much, as I have told you at my previous post, nothing huge happened on me recently. Sometimes I feel unconfidence to share my thoughts to public through this online media, compare with those stories written by my fellas Mio or Asri who face challenging lifes out there.

Ada buku menarik "Diary of A Wimpy Kid" atau dalam bahasa Indonesia cerita anak lemah dalam konteks 'katro' karya Jeff Kinney. (Kisahnya jadi 1st New York Times Best Seller thrice, lho..)

Namun hanya dengan ilmu ikhlas yang sederhana, akhirnya saya berpikir it's not the end of everything. :)

That's what friends are for

It's been more than a year I left my blog without any post, while my great friends (Asri, Pia and Mio) have had their great stories posted.

therefore i am trying to make one now, even though I don't know what am i going to write about, seemed that not many interesting things happened on me.

Only my last visit to thailand where I covered stories about political turmoil in Bangkok caused by Red Shirt movement. That probably becomes most exciting experience I got this year. There were huge challenges to work where I can speak Thai, work without fixer and in difficult situation. At last, I can accomplished it well, since my new friend Timothy Marbun and Yudi from Metro TV (An Indonesian News TV Channel) helped me much. Thanks a lot for them.

so now, I decide to write about how important friends to me, while watching brasil versus ivory coast at tonight world cup match.

Well, once my aunt (who take care of me during my teenage time) told me, that too close with friends even could jeopardize your relationship with them. She said so, because I spent my days mostly with my friends, so i hardly to stay at home. At that time I was so black sheep on the family, without any intention to do so.

Probably, disobedience that I performed to my family give me another life learning experience.

(paused for a while, attention to the match, Robinho gives his firs shoot to Ivory Coast in early minutes)

So my really first friend was in college, he was almost two years older than me. Both of us were very active in students association in our university, until we involved in a community project. In that project, we have different thought about how we should manage our money and activities. Well finally it took us apart.

My next best friend was in the same age. We worked at same company where we almost spent our time together in office and in our boarding house. We even travel together a lot to Bandung and his hometown, for more than 100 kilometers and more than 3 hours. It was great time but conflict because of woman was took me away from my best friend.

But no matter how I mad to them, the truth is... I miss them

Sometimes I think, loosing your best friend even hurt rather than broke up with my girlfriend. I dunno why I felt that way. I guess there must be good reason in breaking up with girlfriend such as do not have anything in common, long distance or there's no heat anymore... after broke up you can turn became her good friend and you can find another girl. But loosing your best friend, means you really lost them.

LikeDionne Warwick or Stevie Wonder said in their song:

"For Good Times And bad times, I'll be on your side forever more, That's what friends are for"

So keep your friends around ^^

will be on board Ms. Nippon Maru as the OBSC

35th SSEAYP 2008

Tomorrow Friday, SSEAYP International Indonesia asks me to come to their meeting where I got to manage a presentation. Presentation on what will I conduct as the OBSC 35th SSEAYP 2008.

Then I realize, that I am the OBSC this year. Something that I never thought about. Like I’m going to repeat a memorable chapter of my life, as a PY, seven years a go. I shall explain you at first that OBSC stands for on Board Ship Conference, consist of representatives from each respective Alumni Association of SSEAYP. (SSEAYP is the Ship for South East Asian Youth Program an exchange program, promoting friendship and mutual understanding

Therefore to promote further unity and cooperation among Alumni Association. they send its representative to join OBSC. The conference provides a venue for them to share other post program projects, to discuss ongoing and prospective collaborative activities, to introduce SI to the current PYs (SSEAYP Participant Youth) and of course to prepare the publication of annual SSEAYP News (SI News Letter). Last but not least, run the post program session on board, encourage PYs active participation in social activities after SSEAYP, utilizing the results of the discussion program.

There will be nines representatives for the OBSC 35th SSEAYP 2008, ASEAN Countries and Japan (excluded Lao PDR and Myanmar). I look forward to the other OBSC members, now. I highly believe that they kind of excellent member in their alumni association. Hopefully me and the other work together running our duties and have fun at the same time since we are on our memorable Ms. Nippon Maru. So I guess I can deny how excited I am being part if the OBSC, especially when I know that other candidates were also qualified even I think they better. So I will work hard so that SII would never regret of choosing me. I will left the excitement euphoria of being onboard behind.

Rio Haryanto Juarai Formula Asia

an End in Beijing

Heavenly drums, silver bell dancers, light wheels and flying men took center stage to greet guests at the National Stadium Sunday for the closing celebration of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. "You made the Games," said IOC President Jacques Rogge
